12th May 2012

We have enjoyed every moment of staying in Corrodale  Cottage on your magical islands.  We thank you for your lovely welcome.  I won’t forget coming in after a long journey and sitting in front of a grand peat fire.  The weather has been kind to us also and we take away with us very special memories.  Thank you

5th May 2012

A fantastic 5 days!  Thank you for the wonderful welcome and a beautiful house!  Even the weather has been kind and to top it all  -  no midges!!!   A 5* holiday.   Thanks.

14th April 2012

A lovely week in glorious sunshine, our red faces enhanced by the high winds.  A simply gorgeous cottage, with such warm and kind hospitality, the hamper was a very nice treat and we could get used to this!  So many highlights ... a trip to Barra and Vatersay (with a bit of a ‘Island Parish’ scene spotting) and topped off with a lovely takeaway from Kisimul Café at Castlebay.  Our trip to North Uist was via Hebridean Smokehouse (nice tastings and a few purchases) followed by a scenic walk around the nature reserve at Balranald.  How to top this off?  The whole beach at Berneray to ourselves, or so it seemed.  Thanks again for a wonderful time – we’ll miss sitting outside enjoying the evening sunshine with our G & T’s.

7th April 2012

Just returned from one of Monty Halls’ walks (near Sollas, North Uist) – superb walk.  Had a hot jacuzzi bath and now sat with a glass of red wine in front of the peat fire – fresh scallops and crab claws prepared and ready to tuck into.  We are pondering on what to write here – it is perfect.  Monty’s Bernaray walk is excellent too.

17th March 2012

We had a fabulous time in this unique Hebridean cottage.  Every luxury provided!  The location of the cottage is second to none – perfect for exploring the Uists and Barra.  Wonderful walks in Loch Sgioport and Locheynort with a haven of wildlife, also spotted an otter on Benbecula’s east coast.  Will be back.

31st January 2012

What a lovely honeymoon setting.  We had a couple of days of great weather where we managed to explore North & South Uist & Eriskay.  The rest were pretty windy but that just added to the atmosphere with the roaring peat fire!  Bit disappointed – will make do with some local ponies & sheep, neither of which seemed in any great wish to move out of the way of the car.

23rd January 2012

Many thanks Katie for your nice welcome and assistance during my stay here.  I enjoyed being in Corrodale Cottage very much and the nice peat fire.  I am sure I will be back at some point in the near future.

12th November 2011

An absolutely wonderful cottage – its  like a postcard from the outside and so luxurious within – so many thoughtful touches, the champagne, seafood and chocolates.  We’ve enjoyed cosying up in front of a roaring fire! And on our last day we ate porridge outside watching a male hen harrier, and packed our car up in the afternoon with a golden eagle flying past.  Highlights of the trip include the beach walks at Sollas and Berneray, the view from the top of Eaval and birds and otters at Balranald.

29th October 2011

What an amazing cottage – thank you for every special touch in it.  Every comfort is more than met.  The kind gesture of champagne, seafood, chocs etc.  was really appreciated.  Will definitely recommend this cottage highly to friends.  A really lovely week, thank you for your wonderful hospitality.

22nd October 2011

Amazing wonderous cottage, home from home with every indulgence - the bath!  wow – gorgeous.  We’re in love with here, with South Uist, and wonderful relaxing break – including a marriage proposal!  Hurrah!  and a beautiful ring from up the road!   Corrodale Cottage weaved its magic.  Thank you with love and thanks.

15th October 2011

Nothing I can add to better what has been said before. Great cottage, very comfortable.  Thanks very much will be in touch soon.

8th October 2011

Perfect escape from city living.  Beauty and tranquillity of the isles matched by beauty and tranquillity of the cottage.  We arrived as a stressed out Project Manager and Financial Director, rediscovered the meaning of life and left as Ian & Jan.  Simply perfect!!!

1st October 2011

A week in a place that is beyond compare for comfort & relaxation.  Special mentions to: the Co-op, MacGillivrays, and all 3 smokehouses, the beaches and the archaeology.  Top tea & cake at Kirkibost.  Great day out with Steve from Western Isles Wildlife – saw so much & learnt lots as well.

24th September 2011

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay.  It was great to return to Uist for the third time.  Back in 1989 I came with my two boys and a tent…..  Particularly enjoyed the Sea Eagles seen displaying in the wind above an island off the north east corner of North Uist…..  and walking for miles on the machair and sandy beaches to the west.   Best wishes and many thanks.

17th September 2011

Have had an enjoyable week.  Lovely cottage to come back to.  The bath was a delight after a days walking.  Thoughtful touches such as fresh flowers, champagne and roaring peat fire, made us feel welcome and at home from the moment of arrival.  Highlight of the holiday was spotting and watching an otter for half an hour at Loch Sgioport.  Plenty of enjoyable walks all over the islands.

10th September 2011

We have had a lovely week discovering beautiful beaches and interesting countryside full of wildlife.  We saw about a dozen seals playing in the sea and on the rocks while walking at Eriskay.  We received a very warm welcome and enjoyed coming back to a fantastic cottage at the end of every day.  We both look forward to returning at some point in the future.

3rd September 2011

Great week – despite the weather!  Agree with all previous comments – Corrodale Cottage is a great base, we really appreciated all the little extra’s – including the seafood & champagne on arrival.  We’ve feasted on seafood every day – we recommend Kallin Seafood and Live Lobsters from Nick in Kallin, who does boat trips on the Lady Anne.  On our trip we saw 4 sea eagles. Other holiday highlights were a day biking around Barra & Atlantic dips in 7mm wet suits!  We hope to come back in the future, thanks again.

27th August 2011

We have had the time of our lives here.  It started with such a warm and friendly welcome from Katie and the champagne and blazing fire.  We have done so many wonderful walks, met so many friendly people, played golf at the best course ever at Askernish, and ate the best seafood in the country.  We will miss this beautiful place and its lovely people and so look forward to returning so that old acquaintances will not be forgotten.

20th August 2011

Thank you for a lovely week in your comfortable cottage.  Highlights include a trip to Eriskay, walking on the beach at Bornais and the bird reserve at Balranald.  Visits to all the local smokehouses produced excellent shellfish, our favourite being the one at Kallin Harbour.

13th August 2011

A great cottage with thoughtful detail and touches.  We have had a great holiday in the Uists, highlights have been some of Monty Halls walks and coming back to this lovely cottage every evening.  Many thanks.

6th August 2011

First class accommodation in a splendid location.  John & Katie are great hosts and all the nice little touches make your holiday even better.  This is our second visit to Uist and won’t be our last.

30th July 2011

A 5* cottage, the best we have ever stayed in – and we have probably stayed in more than thirty in Scotland over the years.  Thank you for the warmth and your hospitality, we feel we have learnt an enormous amount about the Uists by talking to you both.  We especially appreciated the sight of the sea eagle, in all, a most enjoyable week and excellent reciprocation after our week in an ‘eco cottage’.  We shall return.

23rd July

Lovely to have such high quality accommodation in a traditional house set in such a beautiful area of South Uist.  We have really appreciated the thoughtfulness shown.  Loved the crab claws and devoured the scallops plus chocolates.  My bad back has loved the whirlpool bath too.  Lots of places visited and the walks along beaches are never to be forgotten.  Look forward to boring the family with the photos!

16th July

Another lovely week.   Many thanks

8th July 2011

We have had a lovely time – fantastic.   Will be back.

2nd July 2011

We’ve had a fantastic two weeks at Corrodale Cottage.  It has every convenience possible and we will miss it.  We drove all over the islands and saw fabulous beaches and wildlife, played golf at Askernish.  Our favourite beach is the local one across the sands from the Hebridean Jewellery shop.  Aways empty with beautiful white sands.  We found lots of cowrie shells there.

18th June 2011

A week is not long enough in this delightful cottage, the fact that we have already booked a repeat visit next year for 2 weeks speaks for itself.  Thank you for your kindness and hospitality.

11th June 2011

Everything exceeded our expectations.  The islands, scenery and wildlife are breathtaking.  Corrodale Cottage is a real gem – a perfect “honeymoon” location.  Highlights include hearing corncrakes & watching the pair of hen harriers from our front door, Berneray and Eriskay at opposite ends of the Uists and the RSPB reserve  - a perfect day - with visit out to St Kilda.  Thank you Katie & John for a memorable stay and for the flowers, seafood and champagne.

4th June 2011

Wonderful cottage the nicest we have stayed in.  Lovely to have the peat fire and really enjoyed the whirlpool bath.  Barra and Eriskay our favourites.

21st May 2011

John and Katie you have created a 5 star cottage, thank you so much for making us feel so welcome.  We loved all the wonderful extras you provided for us which made our stay so comfortable.  We toured around all the islands but never saw anything to match Corrodale Cottage.  The multi fuel burner has been fantastic to come back to after our trips – favourites were Eriskay, Berneray, the west coast beaches, Loch Aienort and Loch Sgiopoirt.

14th May 2011

Lovely cottage, fantastic scenery and wildlife.  A week is not long enough to take it all in.  We have had a brilliant time on the Uists and Barra.

6th May 2011

A wonderful, restorative break.  Thank you so much for a really comfortable stay and for the special touches of your hospitality.  The Uists and Barra are so lovely; good art, good scenery, excellent wildlife and welcoming folk.

30th  April 2011

Excellent cottage & fantastic holiday

23rd April 2011

Had an amazing time in this little jewel of a cottage – there’s nowhere else on the islands like it!  Such a beautiful place and such a luxurious and tasteful cottage to return to each evening.  Highlights included otter spot behind Benbecula Co-op, cycling tour of the islands, seals at Floddah (Bernaray), deer at Langass with fantastic cairn and stone circle.  Boat trip from Kallin – porpoise and grey seals, an afternoon well spent.  Great walks and stunning scenery – panoramic view from Rueval is wonderful.  Thank you so much for the warm welcome, champagne and introduction to scallops.  Such a friendly island, both cottage and weather have exceeded expectation.

16th April 2011

Corrodale Cottage has been a special place to stay.  After long days exploring the Uists it was a delight to simply rest and stare into our own peat fire.  Katie & John have worked so hard to provide every modern comfort possible.  The cottage is quite perfect.  We sipped our complimentary champagne on our first night snug in our 4 poster bed.  The islands are wonderful.  The church and chapels at Howmore, the standing stones and Isle of Eriskay – picnics on the beach.  A quite splendid week.  Thank you!

8th April 2011

Cottage excellent.  Cooked local seafood and fish every night.  Our best beach Traigh Iar (North Uist).

20th March 2011

A Hebridean paradise, all too short, words could not do it justice.  Highlights: walk on the beach on North Uist accompanied by local “roughish yet charming” border collie; the Hebridean Catch shop at Kallin (M-F 10-4); the small yet perfectly formed beaches of Eriskay.  Loved the cottage and thank you for the warm welcome.

20th February 2011

Thank you for such a warm welcome to this lovely cottage.  We’ve had a wonderful week.  We were particularly impressed with the island postal service which delivered a few items we’d forgotten.

28th January 2011

Many thanks to you both, for the lovely experience of staying in your lovely cottage.

14th January 2011

Katie welcomed us on a cold night with a roaring peat fire , champagne and seafoodA stunning cottage which is a testament to someone with a kind heart and impeccable taste.  The islands are unspoilt and otherworldly.  A holiday in which the pictures and stories we leave with will never do it justice.  Thanks you so much.

31st December 2010

We’ve had a great holiday in this wonderful cottage.  Thanks for everything – especially our Christmas presents!  Happy new year!

26th December 2010

We agree with all the lovely comment previously written.  John met us on our arrival at Lochmaddy and guided us ‘home’ to be greeted by a roaring fire on a very cold night.  Champagne, scallops and crab – heaven!  As it was Christmas Katie had a tree, Christmas decorations and a gift for us both, a really lovely touch.  We loved the Isles and despite it being the middle of winter with snow lying everywhere, the weather was very kind.  Loved every minute.

30th October 2010

A truly fantastic cottage in an amazing location.  Your cottage surpassed our expectations in every way, including the champagne and seafood.  The landscape is beautiful, took advantage of the weather and enjoyed the white beaches.  Managed to see whales and seals, just the otter we missed, but gives us a reason to come back!  Thank you for everything.

23th  October 2010

Thank you Katie for your very warm welcome.  Your cottage was out of this world, enhanced by the flowers, champagne and seafood enjoyed in front of the lovely peat fire.  This is truly the best holiday we have ever shared together.  Silver/white beaches round every corner with turquoise blue water and the occasional seal, otter or dolphin swimming by.  Thank you again.

16th October 2010

Wonderful cottage - everything catered for.  Well done!  Superb week, weather excellent, saw and did lots. Thanks for everything.  See you again.

9th October 2010

We have been coming to Scotland for 15 years.  Each year we take a house or houses during our three week holiday.  Corrodale Cottage is without doubt one of the very best and we’ve seen a few.  You have thought about everything and overlooked nothing.  You have even arranged some stunning weather for us!  We had very little rain, lots of wind and plenty of sunshine.  These islands are breathtaking, beautiful, unspoilt and off the mass tourism radar.  We want to tell everyone about these islands but on the other hand... should we?!!

2nd October 2010

Wonderful cottage, thank you for such a warm welcome, flowers, champagne and seafood a lovely touch.  Beautiful islands, fantastic beaches, like another world here, we love it.  We recommend Langass Lodge restaurant, lovely evening, excellent food.  The owner was kind showing us what to do with langoustines!  The week has flown by, we will be back.

25th September 2010

Corrodale, so cosy- just perfect.  Stunning beaches - Bernaray and Eriskay in particular.  Local seafood very yummy!  Thank you, we wish you success.

18th September 2010

Thank you Katie & John for such a beautiful and luxurious cottage.  We've had a fantastic adventure.  Everyday has been a highlight, but for anyone who may be interested go to see the seals and explore the west coast it is stunning  but the east coast is breathtaking too.  The champagne on arrival certainly add to the first nights sleep and the air has just done it the other nights!  Thank you and wishing you every success and recognition for beautiful Corrodale.

11th September 2010

Just a fantastic week!  Arrived after the excitement of the wedding and a long journey to your beautiful cottage.  Toured the island - west Uist is just beautiful.  The weather has been fab!!  Long walks on probably the best beach in the UK - on Berneray - the seals at Floddah... so much to do!  Desperate to visit St Kilda so we'll definitely be back.  You looked after us so well.  Thank you for the champagne and strawberries!

4th September 2010

Fabulous Cottage!  We have enjoyed wonderful weather and had a fantastic holiday.  Everything exceeded our expectations.  The best holiday cottage.

Super cottage with first class fittings decorated to an excellent standard.  Thoroughly enjoyed our week with highlights including golf at Askernish, trip to Barra and drive to Stornoway via Harris.  Your hospitality deserves every success.  Thank you.

What a perfect cottage - built and decorated to high standards with friendly hosts.  Fantastic wildlife and great walks and scenery.

We have had a wonderful holiday on these beautiful Hebridean Isles. A big thank you for your warm and kind hospitality from the fresh flowers on arrival to the exciting boat trip and the sighting of the sea eagle. Corrodale Cottage is just fantastic.
